Sahih Muslim 973b – Das Verrichten des Totengebets in der Moschee

ʿAbbad b. ʿAbdullah b. Zubair berichtete auf die Autorität von ʿA’ischa, dass, als Saʿd b. Abu Waqqas starb, die Ehefrauen des Gesandten Allahs ﷺ die Nachricht sandten, man solle seine Bahre in die Moschee bringen, damit sie für ihn das Totengebet verrichten könnten. Sie (die Teilnehmer der Beerdigung) taten dies, und sie wurde vor ihren Wohnungen aufgestellt, woraufhin sie für ihn das Gebet verrichteten. Sie wurde durch das Tor, das als Bab al-Dschana’iz bekannt war und sich auf der Seite von Maqa’id befand, hinausgetragen. Die Nachricht erreichte sie (die Ehefrauen des Propheten), dass die Leute dies kritisiert hatten (d. h. das Verrichten des Totengebets in der Moschee), indem sie sagten, es sei nicht wünschenswert, die Bahre in die Moschee zu bringen. Dies wurde ʿA’ischa mitgeteilt. Sie sagte: Wie voreilig kritisieren die Menschen das, worüber sie nur wenig wissen. Sie kritisieren uns dafür, dass wir die Bahre in die Moschee gebracht haben. Der Gesandte Allahs ﷺ verrichtete das Totengebet für Suhail b. Baida’ nur im innersten Teil der Moschee.

'Abbad b. 'Abdullah b. Zubair reported on the authority of 'A'isha that when Sa'd b. Abu Waqqas died, the wives of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent message to bring his bier into the mosque so that they should offer prayer for him. They (the participants of the funeral) did accordingly, and it was placed in front of their apartments and they offered prayer for him. It was brought out of the door (known as) Bab al-Jana'iz which was towards the side of Maqa'id, and the news reached them (the wives of the Holy Prophet) that the people bad criticised this (i. e. offering of funeral prayer in the mosque) saying that it was not desirable to take the bier inside the mosque. This was conveyed to 'A'isha. She said: How hastily the people criticise that about which they know little. They criticise us for carrying the bier in the mosque. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) offered not the funeral prayer of Suhail b. Baida' but in the innermost part of the mosque.
